Imarzapyr is a non selective herbicide; however, some varieties of maize are resistant to the herbicide. The seed of such varieties of maize is coated with the herbicide to protect it from striga infestation. In partnership with Africa 2000 Network, PALM evaluated the effectiveness of IR maize as technology to control striga in Moyo, Yumbe, Maracha and Arua districts.

In this project PALM trained farmer groups on striga control using IR maize and other cultural practices, established on farm trials & evaluated performance of the technology, and organized field days to share lessons.
